Take for instance that after hearing the news the Stafford Hamlet has taken the reins for planning out their own future, Lake Oswego has sacked 3 long range planners.
We certainly didn’t expect that good jobs would be cut as a result of our exciting planning project. I mean, we may be drawing on maps, talking density transfers, rhapsodizing about RRFF5 zoning and generally talking the talk, but it's not like we're professionals. We have ideas, but on some things, many things, we don't even have a clue. Did they really sack them because of us??
To check the truthiness of this, I called L.O. Planning to see what they had to say.
“These cuts have been approved by the Budget Committee alrighty. But not really because of your planning project. We’ve been telling you for years we don’t want to develop in the Stafford area yet, and this should convince you that we’re truth talkers.” said William ‘Bull’ Dozer, interim planning guy. “We don’t have the money or the will to invade the Hamlet. And that whole tennis center thing, well that was a lapse of judgement."
Wow - well it sounds like we're not going to be part of the LO constellation for a little while. Maybe we can breathe a moment and take proper time and care in creating the Hamlet's Vision Map after all.
